Introduction
Hey all,
A little bit about me: I'm in college and didn't start playing poker until about 10 months ago. Since that time, I've played very limited home games with my friends but played extensively online. The online experience started on last Thanksgiving and has turned from a losing to breaking even to winning venture. All the money I currently have in my account came from a $75 deposit way back in December and I have moved up the poker food-chain from low-money SNGs, to micro-limit ring games t0 $1-$2 NL Hold'em tables. I primarily play ring games now but I will play the occassional $10+1 or $20+2 MTT and the occassional SNG. I plan on making poker my job for this summer with a goal of making a modest average income of $300 a week. I primarily play at Pokerstars under the name apnu34, look me up and enjoy. About this last week: After a couple losing weeks that could be traced to some bad beats, the suckouts seemed to stop this week. I began by making $450 through the first few days of the week and then, after my first losing session of the week, I enrolled in the $10+1 Malamoney private tourney on Pokerstars. (I recommend the Malamoney's because Malamoney runs a great site that tracks the results of people who play in his tourneys.) Anyways, I played well and only had to put my chips in jeopardy a couple times and thus, came out on top of the 88 player field with a $264 first place prize. After two days of breaking even, Friday brough $450 worth of losses. I lost a $350 pot when, with both players All-In after the flop (I had top-pair, the other player had nothing), the other player caught his flush for the win. A couple minutes later, I made a re-raise play at a very big multiway pot and, when one person called, I had the best hand (I had low pair, the other player had overcards with a flush-draw) and, when another low card came on the river (that completed the flush) I pushed All-In thinking his overcards missed. He called with his King-high flush and, I was down on the river. So, I ended up about $450. Not too shabby, I plan on making this month a good one and this was a decent way to start. -J. |
